What about our rhythm?

We are finding our flow, we are building our strength, we are increasing our stamina, but what about our rhythm?

Well, this week had evenings dedicated to dance workouts. I do love dancing, as most of you might know by now. As a woman, it is an expression of femininity for me. ?

Having an entire week dedicated to this means the learning is likely to stick for longer. In the next weeks, the dancing workout will likely be once a week.

… because fitness is also quite nice, or, more appropriately, its results. And, importantly, the slower pace that allows for the focus on proper posture throughout.
I consider it a risk to start with fast paced cardio or HIIT that also has moves you have not practiced enough beforehand.

Also, I like that my legs muscles feel rock solid and my tummy has slimmed down a lot. I put that on the fitness and yoga, seasoned with cardio

Here is a 10min dance routine to get your hips moving:

Evening sessions are usually around 40min, so lots more dancing is going on. ?

… and in terms of style, I went for sensual dance workouts, an African rhythms one, a belly dance one and many other more typical cardio dance workouts that I can’t easily put in a style category. Didn’t go for hip-hop, not ready for it yet.

If you’ve ever taken dance classes or tried these kind of workouts before, you’ll know that they are not easy. There is a lot going on! Getting your brain to understand the new steps, putting them in a sequence, keeping the rhythm and so on. It is even harder if you are new to dance in general.

On the yoga front things are proceeding well. I’m starting to look at intermediate level videos for more posture variety..

And today I brought in the beginner training for back-bends. Not that we haven’t done any so far, there is almost no yoga session without some form of it, but to be able to take it further.

And now, some other random facts that are part of the journey:

  • my yoga mat cleaner has such a strong sage & rosemary scent that I leave it in a separate room with the window open and the door closed over night. Intense, but good.
  • I’m now on my 5th pair of training leggings. As the weather gets warmer, I might need to start on my training skirts and shorts,  running and tennis ones.
  • It’s true that one can get a bit too passionate about leggings, wanting more of them, in all sorts of colors and patterns, for all sorts of activities, both indoor and outdoor. But self-control is a #superPower, so I’ll practice it. ?

Today I thought I share a yoga video as well – a 15min shoulder stretch flow that I used to do in the past, even before getting into the daily yoga. It will help a lot, especially if you have a desk job and even more so if you are working from home with imperfect desk setup for the moment. (We’re still in lockdown…)

My google spreadsheet is up to date as well. I record …

  • date
  • body area
  • type of exercise
  • when (morning/evening)
  • duration (minutes)
  • links to the training videos
  • favourite or not
  • notes

At this time it says we’ve done 2014 minutes of exercise. About 33.5 hours. ?‍♀️

To many more! This is fun! ?

This has been week #4 of daily exercise started during lockdown.
