Yoga learning begins

Lots have happened this week.
I have started an Anatomy of Yoga course on
Yoga International. Those adds have worked on me! Still a bit more to go on the course.
My partner, Paul, mentioned that maybe I should do my own videos, given I am enjoying all this process so much. So I thought I could actually put some thought into this and learn about yoga and the body, not just do the yoga.
This process that I enjoy does not cover just yoga though. It is the whole program that I am building with what is available out there – exercises to cover all body areas, with warm up and cool down, as well as yoga the next day to provide more stretching of the body area exercised the day before.
Stretching makes you stronger and less prone to injuries.
Having my own yoga videos is a nice and scary idea and whilst I would like to try it one day, it made me realise all my imperfections even more, my body’s current limitations and issues it had since I can remember etc, you can imagine all the doubts that would go through someone’s mind in the face of such an opportunity.
I can’t remember where I’ve heard this, but they were saying that regardless of the fact that someone else has done the thing that you already want to do and there is plenty of it out there, there is no version of it like yours. It is just unique and we are all here to create, enjoy the process and learn. And some part of your creation will resonate with some people.
With this in mind, I try to give myself courage, just in case the idea of having my own videos sticks around long enough (at least 200 hours of yoga worth) and I get better and better at this.
I must say I enjoy the bank holiday and weekend yoga sessions because they can last an hour or more. The evening sessions have jumped up to an hour or more this week, yet the morning yoga hasn’t and this week got reduced to 20 minutes.
Why?
Because we started a kegel training series. It is a 30 day program by
FemFusion.
I do like exploring as much of the body as possible, via yoga and fitness. The feet, the ankles, the calves, the thighs, the glutes, the abs, lower abs, obliques, the back, the shoulders, the chest, the arms, the hands and so on. But there is more, even more subtleness and I want to explore that too. That is how kegels came about. I’ve got something else to introduce as well, but either after kegels or by increasing the morning training session.
In the morning I want to do more yoga though. We start 7:30am, but I’m awake at 7am, so I decided to start on my own at 7:15am so I get an opportunity to practice only one or two postures, but hold them for longer. Of course I’m tempted to start even earlier, but I’ll stick with this for now. Then the morning continues with the group plan.
My essentials before starting the yoga practice are: drinking a glass of water and having another one ready, just in case, and the cold water face washing. I’ve written about these two and other useful, mindful habits in AYURVEDA based on an Ayurveda course I’ve taken back then.
The 10min dancing at the end of the evening session have become more about dance moves than workout. I like Nathan Short from
Move With Colour.
Until next time … enjoy your body!
This has been week #6 of daily exercise started during lockdown.
